Description:
The Heschel School project involved the complete restructuring of the existing building, originally built in the 1950s as an industrial facility and later converted to house New York City PS-IS 252 before housing its current private school tenant. The high school accommodates 300 hundred students and features a religious center; music, art and drama studios; science laboratories; library; media center; a 5,000 sf rooftop athletic area; and a state-of-the-art 2-story gymnasium. the design incorporated a highly advanced telecommunications, A/V, MEP/FP, and conveying systems. A new 2-story, 20,000 sf addition required the infrastructure to be re-supported and shored using foundation grouting and structural bolstering methods. This challenging fast-track project was completed within an 8-month period, requiring the use of forecasting methods, critical path scheduling, and pre-purchasing of all long lead items.
